This paper describes the contents and working techniques of the author’s Amares Naturkindergarten in Germany. The originality of this kindergarten lies in the absence of an educational program, in the participation of children in various serious activities and in the specific organization of the educational environment.

The characteristics of the body space environment have been presented, where, unlike the national tradition, the maintenance of order is not considered as a special value since the independent activity of children is not quiet compatible with the order and invariance of the environment. The priority of a safety for children, generally accepted for the kindergartens, a barrier against possible risks, have been replaced by a toughening up, a transfer to the child’s own concern about their safety.

The examples of a child activities, including the creation of feasible products (a museum, a garden, a piece of chalk, etc.), experimentation, household economic activities, and of course play have been described. The education and child-rearing have been included in various types of a child activities. There are no traditional studies in this kindergarten. The work of teachers has been focused not at the transfer of knowledge but at fostering the independence and creative orientation of a child. With the support of teachers, preschoolers practically do everything themselves, which contributes to the development of the most important personal qualities. The role of parents is particularly emphasized as they observe the children’s enthusiasm, actively help the kindergarten staff and defend their right to such a teaching practice which is ingenious for Germany.

In conclusion, the authors note that the methods of education used in Amares Naturkindergarten fully comply with the requirements of the Russian Federal State Standard for Early Childhood Education as they have been focused on the development of a child personality, the education of independence, initiative and responsibility.

The contemporary world is nothing like it used to be just 10 years ago. The parameters of the new world are determined but not limited to the Fourth Industrial Revolution. This paper addresses the immediate term which defines the political outlook, medium-term forecasts (technological) and long-term forecasts (determined by changes in space scales). At some second and third level, as a rule, the education system in general and the system of the early childhood education, in particular, ceases to consider the changes taking place. Similarly, the process of digitalization is approached, which is suggested to be implemented in the near future. At the same time, there are certain regularities and correlations between various levels of forecasting so we have to consider their influence on the education system and its technological changes. The paper concludes that it is essential to reflect on all three levels of forecasts when developing educational policies, otherwise there is a risk of failure to provide education for children living in the Age of Fourth Industrial Revolution.

The aim of research: reveal the potential of forming cognitive interest in social phenomena in children 5–6 years by means experimentation.

Introduction. Based on classical and modern research the theoretical justification of the relevance of the problem of forming cognitive interest in social phenomena in children are presented, potential of use of social experimentation are motivated.

Methods. 40 children aged 5-6,5 years (18 girls and 22 boys) took part in the research. To study the features and pedagogical conditions of development of cognitive interests in children used technique N.B. Shumakova «Voprosiki»; monitoring of educational activities; analysis of calendar plans and questionnaires of kindergarten teachers. At the formative stage, the series of educational situations by using social experimentation of children was tested. The effectiveness was evaluated during the control diagnostics using the techniques Mann-Whitney.

Results. The data of control diagnostics reveal to positive dynamics of indicators of cognitive interest to social phenomena in children of the experimental group. Differences between indicators of cognitive interests at ascertaining and control stages are statistically significant.

Conclusion. Organization of social experimentation contributes to the formation of children 5-6 years of cognitive interest in social phenomena, the expansion of communication skills, overcoming of egocentrism, increased activity, safer than spontaneous social experimentation of preschoolers.

Methodology. This paper presents the results of reflection on the assumptions for the development of science and practice of child-rearing based on the review of activities of the public movement on the organization of the early childhood education at the turn of the XIX and XX centuries.

Methods and organization of the study. The paper is based on the review of the records of the Early Childhood Education Department and the Museum of the Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia and historical articles on the formation of the early childhood education. A narrative method has been used to highlight the activities of public movements in support of the early childhood education. The comparative method has been applied to identify the general activities of the public movement in the city of St. Petersburg in support of the initial child-rearing. A retrospective analysis revealed the assumptions for the development of the Russian system of the early childhood education.

Results. The activities of the following public movements have been described: the Movement for Promoting Initial Education (hereinafter the International Froebel Society, IFS), Movement for Early Childhood Education and Movement for Free Education. The ideas of teachers who are participants of various public movements standing by the creation of the system of national childhood education and setting standards for training specialists for work with children have been highlighted. The role of a public movement in the development of the theory and practice of the childhood education has been explained.

Conclusion. A review of the activities of the public movements in support of the childhood education helps to understand the basic assumptions for the development of academic insights related to the upbringing and development of a child and to reveal the traditions of national experience in preparing the kindergarten specialists that originated from the public movement at the turn of the XIX and XX centuries and which were crystallized in the activities of the Pedagogical Institute of Early Childhood Education.

This study provided a detailed analysis of lexical development in children with different level of executive functions in preschool age. The study was conducted by a sample of 279 children 5-6 years old, which were examined the level of executive functioning (executive-loaded working memory, switching, inhibition) and language ability to verbal fluency performance. We used the test “Associative series” to evaluate language ability to verbal fluency performance in free associations. The relationships between verbal fluency performance in free associations and executive functioning were discovered in lexical development of speech with auditory working memory and cognitive flexibility. Productivity in free associations was connected with spatial working memory and directed associations (naming of actions and animals) was connected with inhibition.

In early childhood education and care, Nordic social pedagogy approach is challenged by a learning orientation that often results in unproductive ‘either/or’ thinking. Therefore, based on the two approaches and by analysing several dimensions of Froebel’s ideas and prevailing social-historical activity (play) theory, the author deduces four generally accepted play criteria that form the basis for the construction of a dynamic and play-based learning concept that has the three following cornerstones as focal points: (1) learning happens in activities where the child is an active participant and interacts and communicates with other people; (2) meaningful activities pave the way for children’s learning; these are activities where the child’s motive aligns with the goal of the activity; and (3) learning is seen as a productive and creative activity characterised by imagination.
