The article discusses children’s inquisitiveness in the preschool age and provides experimental data of a research on five-to-six year-olds’ cognitive activity that manifests itself in their questionings. The author describes the methods of diagnostics, and an original classification of children’s questions. The results show distribution of question types between two age groups – 5 to 6, and 6 to 7 years of age, and define criteria for assessing children’s cognitive activity manifested in questions.
