The book offered to the reader examines the formation of psychological knowledge as a process of development of scientific psychology. Psychological models (or theories) are considered as units of scientific psychological knowledge, which naturally fill the space of possibilities of emerging scientific constructions within the framework of psychology itself.
The development of psychology appears as a process of realization of its own possibilities, inherent both in psychology itself, and introduced possibilities associated with the use of the provisions of other sciences.
A special role is given to the principle of assimilation, formulated in antiquity and performing a number of functions, such as retaining the subject of research, choosing units of analysis, etc.
The logic of constructing the course on the history of psychology is presented in several sections. One of the sections describes the formation of the basic psychological theory, another characterizes the emergence of first-order theories as a result of the transformation of the basic theory. Another section reflects the process of the emergence of the second-order theory.
The book analyzes the structure of each of the theories, issues of continuity of the problematic and shows the relevance of the models considered. The book may be of interest to anyone interested in scientific psychology.
